ADAPTATION
A solo exhibition by Jasmin Faulhaber
Adaptation features of a variety works examining how shadows are formed depending on the environment around them. The works shown, play with a variety of textures and media, exploring this with oil paint, silk and mixed media.
The series of patterns were inspired by silhouettes from the foliage of various plants and leaves. These shadows were then placed into a new environment allowing them to adapt and interact with in their new surroundings.
Being able to feel settled, to feel like you are part of the object and it's surroundings; as though you have never left. Shadows always have to adapt and take form, regardless of what is happening around them. These shadows represent a positive movement, not a weakness or a darker side. The opposite.
To be able to move on, in a clear and adaptive form. How the shadow is a representation of the conscious mind and instincts, an identification and projection of the forever changing soul.
Faulhaber was born in Hamburg, Germany, travelled Europe as a Gypsy as a young child migrating to Australia in her junior years, traveling the East Coast of Australia extensively and now resides in Sydney
Faulhaber has worked as an Illustrator/Graphic Designer for over 10 years and now has decided to spend her time exploring the world of colour and patterns with a variety of textures and mixed media. With her work showing previously in a variety of group shows in Australia.
Adaptation is Jasmin’s first solo exhibition.
