EMMA ELIZABETH DESIGNS
Arcade 1
www.emmaelizabethdesigns.com
Emma Elizabeth is considered one of the most exciting young industrial artists and interior stylists to emerge from Australia in recent years. Commercial clients appreciate her inspired approach to representing their products and her furniture designs have been used by numerous prestigious international architects in their commercial projects.
From creating interesting characters for advertising campaigns to designing pop-up stores for Harper's Bazaar, Emma Elizabeth is moved by the montage of art, design, fashion and innovation. This potent fusion is what inspires her lifestyle, interior design and creations. Drawing from years of travel and study abroad, Emma's work is heavily European influenced, yet her artistic cultural reach extends as far as the likes of her favourite artist, Tokyo-based Yayoi Kusama.
Qualifications aside, Emma Elizabeth knew that to get ahead in the style and design field she would have to stand up while everyone else was sitting down. She relocated to Milan and completed a degree in Commercial Interior Design (Scenografia) from the acclaimed Istituto Europeo di Design (IED). The defining moment in her trajectory thus far was when the Philippe Starck Network requested to view her work – the ultimate validation of her design and styling prowess and an overwhelming accolade.
Emma Elizabeth's design talents are particularly in demand for styling and bespoke installations for clients such as Dom Perignon, Harper's Bazaar, Moet & Chandon and Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
'sliZed', the furniture collection she designed, will feature in the Milan Design Furniture Fair in 2010. The installation will be part of the Hidden Heroes Exhibition with Emma Elizabeth being the only Australian among the 30 international designers showcasing their work.
She was also named one of the top five finalists for the Harper's Bazaar Peroni Young Designers Award in 2009 and also selected as one of the top 10 object/industrial designers by Marc Newson for SOYA in 2008 and 2009.
Arcade Concept
Emma Elizabeth Designs will be utilising the arcade space as more of a conceptual expression, engaging in her monochromatic nature, the space will transform and morph during the three month period and will also act as an art installation as well as informative salone.
EED will also be launching her sliZed collection at this years Milan design show, having been selected to showcase with 20 other international designers as part of the Hidden Heros exhibition. There will be live updates fed over night to the installation space each day from Milan's design show in April, so Sydney Arcade visitors can feel like they are there in Milan and experiencing the design show up close and instant instead of waiting months for the reports to reach Australian shores.

The quiet magic of glass - Since the beginning of time, nothing holds our fascination like the fluidity of glass. The exquisite, clear forms of glass turned into sculpture are full of astonishing beauty.

BAMS & TED
Arcade 3
bams & ted, the artist and stylist team consisting of sister duo, Rachel and Claire Fuller will be installing their ode to the history of mystery in literature, television and film.
Playing on the past life of The Arcade Project setting as nineteenth century police cells bams & ted will create a rotating collection of theatrical, immersive scenes based on the leading ladies of Picnic at Hanging Rock, To Catch a Thief and lastly Murder She Wrote.
Miranda, the opening collection in February will surround classic Australian Gothic novel, Picnic at Hanging Rock. Naturally melancholic the collection will consist of white lace, satin ribbons, rocks and enamel teacups. Evoking the spirit of the Australian landscape at the turn of last century, Miranda and her gaggle of girls will be complete with parasols, cameos, boater hats and leather satchels.
March will see the collection move forward fifty years to the frivolous and opulent French Rivera. Here we will meet Francie, Grace Kelly's stunning femme fatale from Hitchock's To Catch A Thief. The ubiquitous black cat will swan through the lavish 1950s holiday folk dressed in their resort style sundresses, striped sweaters and vintage swimsuits. Just a small sign to let them know that as they wine and dine the cat burglar pads across their French coastline rooftops, the night filled with danger, excitement and extravagance.
The third and last collection in April will be titled Jessica after the Saturday night TV detective Jessica Fletcher from the 1980s series, Murder She Wrote. This collection will be set within the floral wallpapered, cosy fireplace of the Cabot Cove home of Jessica. As winter approaches we will be ready with Jessica's pussy bow blouses, trench coats, pencil skirts and cashmere cardigans. Of course the scene will tell the tale of the ultimate who dunnit with typewriters and telephones and the scent of Jessica's classic New England mysteries.
All furnishings, objects, clothing and jewellery from Miranda, Francie and Jessica will be available for purchase.
