‘Nothing’s ever what it seems’ is an exhibition that explores themes of perfection, gender relationships, bodily fluids and the interconnected relations between humans and their environments.

INFORMATION

Laden with sexual undertones, mythical creatures, exotic environments and human flesh these dystopic worlds delve into the artist’s own precarious fantasies. Amid the furore of vibrant colours are dark, sinister nuances harnessed in dripping bodily fluids, bloody tear stains, disjointed limbs and appropriated faces. Drawing on nature’s patterns and colours alongside kitsch pop-cultural forms the artworks delve into a surreal fantasyland that ‘nothing’s what it seems’ upon first glance.

BK DIECI is an emerging artist working across a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, textiles and digital media. Beginning with the traditional medium of drawing, BK DIECI transforms her dreams and nightmares into intimate mix-media playgrounds. BK DIECI aims to bring her array of thoughts, imagery and characters together to explore these relationships, their impact and the forms they inhabit beyond the canvas.

BK DIECI completed a Master of Art in Time Based Media at the University of New South Wales, Art & Design in 2015. She has since exhibited at various shows including The Other Fair in Sydney and been a finalist in the Lloyd Rees Youth Memorial Award at Lane Cove Gallery. BK DIECI has also featured on the Right Space podcast and has been commissioned for numerous private murals, artworks and festivals.
