An exhibition celebrating the opal, a treasure of Australia's natural environment.

INFORMATION

Opals are a beautiful and unique creation of Australia’s natural environment. Each stone displaying it’s own individual character, seen through the colour and pattern of the stone, scientifically known as play of colour.

This idea poses the question, “why does this individuality exist?” The answer, in simple terms, is the stones internal structure.

𝑆𝑖𝑂2𝑛𝐻2𝑂 is an exhibition showcasing a series of contemporary jewellery pieces which explore this concept, as well as the simple notion that the opal is a beautiful natural creation and something that we should treasure.

This series of work is created from a combination of opals, semi precious stones and precious metals. Combined, both form and colour are used to portray a subtle representation of these fascinating stones.
