Glimpse – a momentary or partial view – seemed the best way to describe my current painting practice.

INFORMATION

The exhibition is a collection of fragments, such as, a moment of sunlight, or the colourful chairs of a local cafe, or a particular green that caught my attention.I often work towards a larger concept or theme, but lately I have found it increasingly joyful to notice my local landscapes, and to get lost in the colours, light and atmosphere.

Artist Bio

Kate Smith is a contemporary landscape painter who uses traditional and experimental methods to explore the natural world. She combines time in nature with a relentless studio practice based in painting and drawing. Smith’s work has been selected for numerous group shows, including finalist in the Outback Art Award and Agendo Prize, and this will be her ninth solo show.
